I’m a week off the mega dosage of methimazole (tapazole) and the majority of my problems went away.  I still have stiffness and achy joints in my hands, but I’m not all crippled up now after working 8 hours.

I was so happy last night that I made it though my entire shift without needing to ask someone to open a door, or stir something or open a bottle.  Last Monday night, I couldn’t even open a water bottle to get a drink, much less HOLD the bottle in my hands.  Last Tuesday, getting out of bed, made me cry.  Getting into the truck was agony.  8 hours of work was impossible!  I needed an assistant all night to open oven doors, to lift pans, to use plastic wrap….  At least they were understanding!!!  My hands were all red and swollen by the end of the night.  My knees as well.  Someone said my hands looked like their grandpa’s rheumatoid hands :(

I dread going back on more pills if my bloodwork in 2 weeks shows a return of the hyper ;/  BUT… I can feel it coming on.  I’m hungry all the time.  I’m not sleeping again.  I need to use the toilet more often (TMI TMI TMI!!! before I was treated, it was every HOUR, while on the pills, it was once, maybe twice a day…  now I’m somewhere in between the two ;/ )  My eyes are hurting again.  I’m extra fidgety.  I feel the need to go gogogo.

So far, my heartrate seems to still be normal, instead of racing.  I got through 2 workouts this week without needing to sit down and rest.  Granted, I did the ‘beginner’ modifications and used lighter weights than ever, but I got through them - 52 minutes each workout - one circuit training and one cardio.  ( I did The FIRM’s Bootcamp: Max Calorie Burn and Cardio Overdrive ) I took Sunday and Monday off from workouts, so I don’t overdue things just yet ( I don’t want the joint pains to come back!!!!! ).  I figure 3-4 days a week of workouts, providing the Dr doesn’t veto them again (I couldn’t do anything strenuous until my RESTING heartrate went below 100 bpm ).  I plan 2 intense workouts (like the above with modifications as necessary), with 1 yoga or stretching/pilates type workout and another shorter less intense cardio, like walking along the beach, until I get my strength and stamina and health back.
